Mercedes is an Associate at Ryan Law Partners and Dallas native. Mercedes joined the firm in March 2026, bringing with her a unique mix of legislative policy and nonprofit litigation experience.
Mercedes earned her B.A. in International Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. Prior to and throughout law school, Mercedes worked in various capacities within the Texas House of Representatives. Upon graduation, Mercedes worked as a Family Law Staff Attorney at Ascend Justice, representing low-income survivors of domestic and gender-based violence in various family law proceedings in the Chicagoland area. Mercedes also served as General Counsel for the Mexican American Legislative Caucus of the Texas House of Representatives, seeing the organization through a major internal restructuring, a tumultuous regular legislative session and two special sessions, and high-profile litigation on Texas’s 2025 political redistricting.
Mercedes practices commercial litigation with the firm. When not working, she enjoys running, reading, and spending quality time with her loved ones.
